FLIGHT OF THE WHITE CRANE
L’Amour Magazine Feature - Golden Era Issue
November 2024
Flight of the White Crane was conceived as a study in precision, movement, and controlled elegance — an editorial built around the tension between minimalism and impact. I developed the creative direction for the shoot, shaping the visual language from the outset and leading the project through its planning, organisation, and execution. From the initial concept and mood-led direction through to the studio environment itself, the intention was to create imagery that felt both disciplined and expressive: refined in its simplicity, yet unmistakably bold.
Photographed against a clean white backdrop, the series centres on Zhou Zichen’s striking presence and ability to transform garment and pose into something sculptural. The styling, silhouette, and movement were brought together to create images that feel sharp, modern, and graphic, with every frame designed to emphasise line, form, and negative space. My approach to the shoot was to create a visual world where nothing distracted from the strength of the subject, the structure of the clothing, or the precision of the composition.
As both creative lead and photographer, I directed the overall tone of the editorial while coordinating the shoot in a way that allowed the team’s contributions to sit within a clear and cohesive vision. The result is a body of work that feels elevated and intentional — an editorial that reflects not only strong collaborative execution, but a defined creative authorship behind the image-making.
